Our Learning Programs
Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, and shaped by Reggio Emilia principles. We combine intentional teaching with play-based, inquiry-driven learning because this is how young children learn best.
Our educators observe carefully, document children's thinking, and use what they learn to plan experiences that respond to each child. Environments are flexible and regularly reconfigured to reflect children's interests and current projects.

What Children Experience
Our curriculum supports learning across all areas. Literacy and language develop through stories, conversation, phonics, and early writing. Numeracy is explored through counting, patterns, measurement, and real problems. STEM learning happens through construction, science investigations, and nature exploration. Creative expression is supported through art, music, movement, and dramatic play. Physical development is embedded in play through both gross and fine motor experiences. Social and emotional growth happens through relationships, collaborative play, and guided interactions.
Nothing here is generic. Educators plan with intention and respond to what children show us, designing experiences that challenge and extend the children in front of them.
A Typical Day at Ascot Early Childhood
Children arrive between 7:30 and 9:00am and are welcomed by familiar educators. The morning offers time to settle with activities like puzzles, construction, drawing, or outdoor play.
Morning group time brings children together for stories, music, movement, and shared planning. The core learning block runs through to lunch and includes literacy and numeracy, STEM and inquiry projects, dramatic play, sensory and fine motor activities, and outdoor experiences.
Lunch is relaxed and social. Rest time is tailored to each child. Some sleep, others engage in quiet activities like books or puzzles with educator support.
The afternoon continues with projects, art, music, or collaborative games. After afternoon tea, children wind down with calm activities: outdoor play, storytelling, construction, or art.
Partnerships with Families
We recognise families as children's first educators. What you know about your child shapes how we support them, and we want to hear from you.
Our educators talk with you at drop-off and pick-up. Not quick handovers, but real conversations about your child's day and what we're noticing. We document learning through Xplor Playground so you can see how your child's thinking is developing. We welcome you into the centre for events, projects, and everyday moments.
This isn't one-way communication. We seek your input and use it to inform our program. When home and the centre are connected, children feel it.
